On November 6, Minnesotans will be asked to vote on two proposed amendments to our state's constitution. Both Amendments are divisive and unnecessary. Minnesota has never in it's history amended the Constitution to take away people's basic democratic and human rights. This is not the Minnesota we want. We already have laws that ensure the integrity of our elections and marriage should not be used to divide our communities. Changing the Constitution is too radical of a step. We need to vote NO and protect its integrity.

Transportation contributes to 25% of global warming emissions in Minnesota. Furthermore, as Minnesota’s demographics shift, we face an aging population that will require alternatives to driving but will have few options. MPIRG is dediciated to increasing voter participation - particularly in the midterm elections where young people have the largest drop-off in voting among all demographic groups. We continue to fight for fair and clean elections whereby anyone, regardless of socioeconomic status, can run for political office. And, more broadly, we promote and advocate better democratic systems, such as ranked choice voting, that encourage people to vote their hopes, not their worst fears.

There are 80,000 chemcials, mostly untested, used in manufacturing. Many of them are very toxic and are causing cancer and hormone disruption in our bodies. Two of the worst chemicals are bisphenol-A and phthlates. These chemicals can be found everywhere from baby toys to shatter-resistant water bottles. Constant, low-level exposure is believed to be related to the increase in autism, among other effects.
